Whether your at work or on vacation, LogMeIn’s combination of Remote Control Software and web access from your browser makes access to your home computer is as easy as checking your email. The Free version allows you basic access and remote control, paid versions provide enhanced tools and features like drag and drop to the computer your at, and many others. The following section has tips for set up:
Initial Setup
This example uses LogMeIn Free.
Go to the LogMeIn Home Page. Click on “Create an account”, fill out necessary info. Click on your confirmation email.
Login, click on “Add Computer”, which will download the installer to your system.

Perform initial installation. The only “gotcha” I encountered was the initial install configures you for a trial of Pro, instead of Free, which I specified. No big deal, just “Edit Computer”, and change to Free.
Login Remotely
Go to the LogMeIn website, Enter your username (email) and password. Click on the “Computer Name”, then click on “Remote Control” in the menu on the left. You now have access to your home computer. Remember to disconnect and logout when your finished.
Adding Additional Computers to your Account
As above, use the “Add Computer” link. Adding Additional Computers to the same account will have a screen that looks like this:

Again, make sure the computer is set to the correct subscription after installation.
Suggestions:
Under Account/Extra Security check “Emailed Security Code”, put your email address in and save it. A new code will be sent to your email for each login session. May show up in your junk folder…
Save the LogMeIn Secure Login Direct Link as a Bookmark

Make sure you have a local password on your home computer set for added security. You will see a screen like this if you do:

The LogMeIn application (logmein.exe) enables a connection to the logmein servers on startup. The GUI installed to the System Tray has no option to “Disable on Startup”. Although security seems adequate, I still would like the option of enabling it when I want to use it, leaving the connection closed the rest of the time. Use a tool like autoruns, process explorer, or task manager, and set logmein.exe to disable. Then you can simply enable from the GUI.
Remember to disable Sleep or Hibernate modes on your home computer when plan to use Remote Access!
If your running Firefox, install the LogMeIn extension.
