Restoring Hibernation Option- Vista

Posted by GazGuzla On November - 10 - 2008

After using the default Disk Cleanup utility on my Vista laptop, the Hibernate option is no longer listed. Unfortunately, the Hibernation File is checked, then removed by default. To restore Hibernation as an option, perform the following steps:

  1. Click on the Start Menu and type “command prompt” in the search bar
  2. Right click the Command Prompt entry that is listed
  3. Select “Run as administrator” and open the program
  4. At the command prompt, type in: powercfg /hibernate on, and press Enter.

Hibernation Option should again listed as an option.
