If your a user of the Vista Side Bar, App Launcher is a great way to clean up your desktop. App Launcher does what it says - launches files with one click to the icon. The download can be found Here. Once installed, here are some modifications to the options you can start with:

Layout Tab

  • # 4 icons per row - 4
  • Position of the icons - Keep the icons Centered

Misc Tab

  • Bypass shortcut files dropped on launcher. Changes a desktop icon link to the actual program path.

Add/Remove

  • Add a divider to separate different types of execs like word, excel, / disk defrag, registry cleaner
  • Drag Button allows you to move icons around inside the box.

According to documentation, support can be found Here. The only issue was running programs as administrator, which can be modified in the advanced properties of the application.
