Optimize Vista Laptop Hard Drive

The following steps optimize your Laptop Hard Drive for faster response times by enabling Advanced Performance Write Caching. Laptops have a Battery for backup, so this is only recommended for Desktop PC’s with Backup Power. Because your login session will be cached, power loss during the session “could” result in the loss of data.

1) Open the Device Manager

  • Windows Icon—->Control Panel—>Device Manager

2) Open the Policies Tab

  • Expand Disk Drives—->(Your Disk)—->Policies

3) Enable Advanced Write Caching

  • Check “Enable Write Caching on Disk” (if its not already)
  • Check “Enable Advanced Performance”

4) Close all applications and Reboot
